PROGRESS CONTINUES FOR TINMOUTH AT OULTON PARK

There were two solid top 20 finishes for Jenny Tinmouth at Oulton Park, over the May Bank Holiday weekend, in the second round of the British Superbike Championship. That coupled with a personal best lap time by a second means the Two Wheel Racing Team now go into the 6 week break before the next round full of confidence.

There is always an added pressure for Jenny and her Superbike team when they head to Oulton Park, with it being their home round. They always want to put on a show for their local fans which has not always been possible but despite a couple of gremlins, this time, they performed admirably.

Free Practice went well but on Saturday night the team found cracks in their new race swingarm, so the evening was spent fixing the issue before Sundays qualifying.

Swing arm repaired and then tested in FP3 in the morning on Sunday Jenny found another gear for the afternoons qualifying session and produced her best ever lap around Oulton to qualify in 25th place on the grid.

In Race 1 Jenny had an excellent start and got from 25th to 19th place, only for an incident to call for the use of the safety car, Jenny maintained her position for a few laps once the safety car had pulled in but then she made a mistake and over shot at Hizzy's esses, dropping her to 21st position. However despite the loss of momentum Jenny soon settled back into a rhythm and once she caught and passed the rider in front she soon pulled away and eventually finished in 20th position.

Jenny made her move sooner in Race 2 and once past a slower rider began closing down the leaders from lap 8 onwards by over a second a lap, bringing the gap down from over 17seconds to just over 1 at the end of the race and again finished in 20th position to round off another impressive weekend of what has so far been an excellent start to her 2014 campaign.

Rider Jenny Tinmouth said “I really want to say thanks to everyone who helped me at Oulton Park, we have made some massive progress and I've learnt so much this weekend and I am so gratefull for their help, thanks to Clive Padgett from Padgetts Race team, Alan Bell from Motec, Steve Moore from Millsport Racing and the Anvil Hire Tag Racing team for welding my swingarm. I am so pleased with the whole weekend, to knock a second of my lap time is really pleasing as this is one of the hardest tracks we go to so I'm over the moon and it bodes really well for me and my bike for the rest of the season at less physically demanding circuits”

Crew Chief Steve Bradley said “We've had a really good weekend, In the races themselves it was great to see Jenny fighting with and passing riders and to then pull away and show her speed was great. For us it is really good having a 6 week break as we've been working so hard over the winter and we definitely need a rest and re-group, to go into the break on such a high and with lots of potential will only help our focus going forward and we can't wait to get stuck in at the next round.”

The next round of the Championship is at Snetterton 13th-15th June with qualifying and all races being shown live on British Eurosport
