BSB Heads across the water
The tenth round of the British Superbike Championship was not only a first for The Hardinge Sorrymate.com Two Wheel Racing team but also for the Championship itself as all of the teams headed across the water to the Netherlands and to the iconic Assen TT circuit.
The Assen TT circuit is steeped in motorcycling racing history with it’s mixture of super fast high speed and slow corners. It is a test for any rider and even more so when they have never been round the circuit, in any format, before they have to face their championship round.
However, as has been the case through out this rookie season in Superbikes, Jenny worked methodically during the weekend making improvements to the bike and set up and her lap times continued to come down. With a qualifying lap time of over 4 seconds quicker than in first practice the team had high hopes for Race 1 but unfortunately there was an issue with a sprocket resulting in the chain jumping the sprocket and Jenny’s race was terminated after only 3 laps.
Disappointed, but undeterred, the team carried out the necessary repairs before Race 2 and even though she had only completed 3 laps in the first race Jenny started from an improved grid position. She had an excellent start and got her head down finishing a commendable 25th taking nearly 6 seconds a lap off her time over the course of the weekend.

“What a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, having obviously seen and heard so much about this circuit it was great to finally be able to come here and race. Having a sprocket go in the first race was frustrating as I wanted to get as much track time as possible but we gave a good showing in the second race. I was pleased with how much the lap times came down over the weekend and it has given me great confidence heading to another of my favorite tracks at Silverstone. Crew Chief Steve Bradley said
“Well the learning curve couldn’t get much steeper than this and for a rookie on a Superbike Jenny has performed beyond the teams expectations yet again. Her lap times for a first timer were very impressive and the different things we tried with the set up just showed how much she has come on with her understanding of the bike and how much further she can push it. All in all a great weekend and we move on to Silverstone with high confidence.”
The next round of the British Superbike Championship is at Silverstone and takes place on 28th-30th September with races being screened live on British Eurosport.
