Triple Header Finale at Brands

The last round of the 2012 British Superbike Championship was a triple header at Brands Hatch and with the Kent circuit being one of Jenny’s favorite circuits the team were hoping for a good showing for the sponsors and fans as a big thank you for all the support over the year.

Jenny started well throughout free practice and was consistently running at a fast pace right from the off which showed how determined she was this weekend.

A strong performance in qualifying was hoped for but slight set up problems meant that she wasn’t as far up the grid as she would have liked in Race 1 and then an uncharacteristic bad start added to the woes. Never one to let her head drop, Jen battled hard and after passing a back marker, had her sights set on the bikes in front but then with 3 laps to go the race was red flagged with her in 23rd position.

In Race 2 Jen had a better position on the grid due to her times in Race 1 and had a much better start but the race proved to be another stop/start affair, with the safety car being deployed twice, which led to the race being extended by 3 laps to 23, it was difficult to find a decent rhythm under these conditions but Jenny still managed to finish in a creditable 21st position.

Race 3 was to prove to be one of the best of the year with the most consistent quick lap times and swapping fastest lap times with the bike in front for the entire race. Jenny finished in 23rd position and just 4 seconds behind the man infront.  Jenny being delighted to have finished her first season in superbikes, strongly.

“We have had a great last round at Brands Hatch, all three races went well and we had three strong finishes with the last race being our best and most consistent. We have had a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable debut season in British Superbikes and I cannot thank Hardinge Machine Tools, Sorrymate.com and all our other sponsors enough for all their help and support, through this first season. We are so proud of our achievements and extremely excited about next year’s prospects as we enter in to our winter testing program to build on what we have learnt this year and to come back even stronger in 2013”

“I think Jen’s face said it all after the last race, she just looked so happy! We have, as a team, worked so hard to get where we are and despite a few teething problems, with the bike, at the start of the season we have had a tremendous debut season. Jen has really gelled with the big bike now and is making it her own. There is a greater understanding as to what can be changed to improve her riding and how to get the most from the tyres. We have a good base now which we can build on over the winter and we go into our winter testing program full of confidence and looking forward to the 2013 season.
