Tough weekend finally brightens for Two Wheel Racing

Jenny Tinmouth and her Two Wheel Racing team were besieged with problems this weekend, during the 7th round of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park. This led to a distinct lack of track time and the team feared they were going to leave their home round disappointed but thanks to some hard work by the team, especially crew chief Steve Bradley, Jenny still managed to finish all 3 races strongly and complete a personal best lap time in the process.

After Brands Hatch the team made some changes to the geometry of the bike to look for further improvements and with Oulton Park being a triple header they were hoping for a lot of track time to fine tune their alterations. Unfortunately after indecisive weather ruled out FP1 a clutch problem was to then rule Jenny out of FP2,3 and qualifying and an electrical fault nearly ruled out Sunday morning warm up too. Starting from the near back of the grid in Race 1 and unsure of the reliability of the clutch Jenny rode a solid race finishing in 21st place.

Then everything came together and in Race 2 a determined Jenny produced several laps in the 1.39’s beating her previous best time round Oulton Park and finished in 19th place. In Race 3  it was more of the same and despite the safety car being deployed early on Jenny finished the race in 20th place.

Rider Jenny Tinmouth said “ I think to come away from this weekend with 3 finishes after all the problems and to set a personal best lap time is a credit to the whole team and I am happy with that, whilst the bike feels different now I think it will be beneficial in the long term and I am really looking forward to Cadwell Park in 2 week’s time.”

Crew Chief Steve Bradley said “ A very tiring round for the team and not just the rider for once. We really wanted some track time to see how the changes affected Jenny before the races but it wasn’t to be and credit has got to be given to Jenny for how she rode this weekend. It could have been a demoralizing home round but as it is we head to Cadwell in a very good position.”

The next round of the championship is at Cadwell Park on the 24th-26th August, all the races can be seen live on British Eurosport 2
